Throughout the process of creating Chip Chuck Ltd we kept in mind the clear goal of helping to raise funds for a local charity through our events at fairs and fetes. It was quickly decided that our chosen charity would be St Peter & St James Hospice and Continuing Care Centre in Chailey, who have provided care for the loved ones of many friends and colleagues in our local community. The wonderful team at St Peter & St James work incredibly hard to raise the crucial funds needed to provide such brilliant care and support for those in a position of need and vulnerability, and we want to do everything we can to help them raise these funds. Last week we spent an afternoon at the Hospice with Carol Hughes, St Peter & St James Community Fundraiser, discussing our aims for a continuing support of the charity. Madeline Best, Chip Chuck Ltd Director (pictured far right), delivered a Chip Chuck game set to the hospice, which has been donated to provide an opportunity to enjoy some fresh air and entertainment in those special moments of family visits, and a good excuse to get outside when the sun is shining.
If you visit one of our stalls over the summer you will be able to take part in the Chip Chuck 3x5 Competition, giving you the opportunity to not only try the game for yourself but also to help us raise money for this very worthy cause. All proceeds from this competition will go directly to St Peter & St James, and we will also be carrying donation pots for any loose coins (or cash) you can spare.
The St Peter & St James Hospice mission is clear; "We will support you and those important to you to live well towards the end of life by giving compassion, hope and quality care."
"We care for patients from Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Lewes, Uckfield and the surrounding villages. Last year, we provided care for more than 600 patients and their families. All of our Hospice services are free of charge and we receive less than 14% of our funding from the Government. This means we rely on our local community for providing 86% of our funding and have to raise more than £2.6 million every year through fundraising. That's £7,200 every single day."
