It was a treat to be outside in some beautifully hot British summer sunshine today. The School Fayre was a lot of fun and we were really excited to see a falconry display!
The children's 3x5 competition was fierce today, with one young player, Freddie, returning to the stand on numerous occasions to ensure his name reached the top of the leader board. Freddie and Harry, both pupils at Tavistock and Summerhill, finished the day with equal points and so took part in a final play-off. With much support from friends and a small gathering of spectators Freddie scored the highest number of points and went home with the minion.
We saw a typical start to our adult's competition with scores of six and seven quickly filling the leader board. But after a couple of slightly higher scores from a couple of the dads we were pleased to welcome Josie to the stand. Convinced that she couldn't throw Josie took a little persuading to have a go. With her first five Chips she scored an impressive 5 points, and with her second five Chips Josie scored the 3x5 Competition's first ever inside-ledge! Completing her turn with an incredible 30 points and securing the top of the leader for the rest of the day. We presented Josie with a very special one-off prize for scoring the inside-ledge and she also took home the cash prize for her top score.
Throughout the day we saw a number of very generous donations to St Peter & St James Hospice and the competition added £49 to our accumulated total raised this year.
